While StarCraft used to be the game that defined Blizzard’s competitive games, lately it would seem that the franchise has taken a backseat to other Blizzard games and genres, with Hearthstone being one of the more popular choices these days. We suppose the fact that the game is free to play helps as well.That being said, if you’re looking forward to getting your hands on new Hearthstone content, you might not have to wait too long because Blizzard is expected to make an announcement this coming Friday. This is thanks to the folks at Blizzheart who recently received a letter that read, “There are whispers around the Tavern…Come listen closely and discover the next Hearthstone expansion at a special live-streamed event!”
The last Hearthstone expansion we saw was The League of Explorers that was launched in November 2015. It was released about a week after its announcement, so there is a good chance the same could happen here as well. Unfortunately it is anyone’s guess as to what this upcoming expansion will be themed around, but given that the previous expansion was a huge one, there is a good chance this upcoming expansion might simply be about introducing new cards.
