htc-vive-consumer-edition-2Wondering if your computer will be powerful enough to handle the HTC Vive? If you are curious, HTC has a tool that lets you check to see if your computer is up to scratch. However in case your computer isn’t capable, or if you were planning on buying a new computer anyway, it seems that HTC will also be selling the HTC Vive in optimized PC bundles.

This was confirmed in a report from Fortune in which Dan O’Brien, VP of planning and product management for the HTC Vive said, “We’ll have PC bundles with Vive-optimized PCs on our website soon and we’ll tell people they’ll have a great experience.” For those unfamiliar with these bundles, basically they’re gaming rigs that have been designed with hardware specs and features that will play nicely with the HTC Vive headset.

However interestingly enough, O’Briend doesn’t seem to think that these bundles will be be the driving force for HTC Vive sales, “But I don’t think PC bundles will be a major driver of sales.” HTC’s plan to offer optimized PC bundles isn’t new. In fact the folks at Oculus have also done something similar with the Oculus Rift.

They have teamed up with the likes of ASUS, Alienware, and Dell, but at this point it is unclear as to who HTC might have teamed up with for the HTC Vive’s optimized PC bundles. In the meantime, it looks like the HTC Vive has been a huge hit and has reportedly sold 15,000 units in the span of 10 minutes.
