instagramOn Facebook and depending on how you arrange your posts, you might choose to display the most current posts first, or sometimes you might arrange to view your posts based on the top stories. This is versus Instagram where for the most part it is ordered by the most recent posts, but all of that could soon change.

In an announcement by Instagram, the company has revealed that they will be taking a page from their parent company Facebook by rearranging their feed based on content they think you might care more about. So for example if you happen to interact more with posts about Taylor Swift, then posts about Taylor Swift will be given more priority than others.

According to Instagram, they are doing this because this estimate that their users miss an average of 70% of their feeds, which is a lot especially if you’re following hundreds/thousands of Instagram users. That being said, this change won’t remove content from your feed, but rather it will rearrange them.

“The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting and the timeliness of the post. As we begin, we’re focusing on optimizing the order — all the posts will still be there, just in a different order.” When Facebook made changes to their feed, many users weren’t too thrilled about it, and we can only imagine that Instagram users will probably be feeling the same way.
