michael kors smartwatchThe idea of a smartwatch might have seemed pretty geeky back in the day, but fast forward to the present, many high-end brands have started to get in on it. Last year we saw companies such as TAG Heuer and Breitling hop on board the smartwatch bandwagon, and this year it looks like fashion brand Michael Kors wants in on it as well.

The company has announced at Baselworld that they too will be entering the smartwatch market with the Michael Kors Access smartwatch. According to Michael Kors, “I’m in the business of making people’s lives easier through fashion. I thought, ‘Why can’t tech accessories be chic and glamorous?’ You wear them every day. After all, technology is impacting life more and more. It should reflect your personal taste as much as anything else, but it should also give you access to all the experiences that you want.”

The Access smartwatch will be powered by Android Wear and will come with exclusive Michael Kors display faces that users can easily change with a swipe. There will interchangeable leather and silicone wristbands, but for those looking for something more luxurious, the company is also promising “Glamorous versions for women and sporty versions for men.”

The best part is that despite it being from a fashion brand like Michael Kors, the Access smartwatch isn’t that expensive. It is priced starting at $395 which is slightly higher than other smartwatches by tech companies, but at the same time it is still relatively affordable. Their release has been set for the fall of 2016.
