Last year the popSlate case for the iPhone was launched. For those who are hearing about it for the first time, the popSlate is a case for the iPhone that sports an e-ink display on its back. The idea is that the additional display will help save battery as it takes less energy than the iPhone’s screen, plus it can be used to display additional information.

The good news is that it looks like the creators are back and have since launched the popSlate 2. The concept of the case is basically the same, except that the popSlate 2 will feature several improvements and new features. One of the changes is to its display which will now be of the 4.7-inch variety and will have a resolution of 200dpi.

This is versus its predecessor which came with a 4-inch display and a resolution of 115dpi. It will also connect with your phone via the Lightning connector instead of Bluetooth, which in turn will help you save battery even more. To top it off, the Lightning connection will also allow the popSlate 2 to charge the iPhone should you need a bit of juice.

According to its creators, the battery should provide users with nine hours of talk time and 5 hours of web browsing. It also does not appear to be too expensive if you were to pre-order it on Indiegogo. It is priced starting at $69, but will retail for $129 and $149 for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus respectively upon its release, so head on over if you’d like the details.
