Samsung-Galaxy-S7-vs-S7-edge-07_900

Sprint has demonstrated data speeds of more than 300 Mbps on the Galaxy S7 which is one of the first mobile devices on the market that has the hardware to support three-channel carrier aggregation that’s capable of providing users with real-world peak speeds of up to 200 Mbps.

The carrier currently uses two-channel carrier aggregation to provide peak speeds of up to 100 Mbps in over 150 LTE Plus markets across the country. With the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge arriving on the scene, Sprint and Samsung have now started testing three-channel carrier aggregation to prepare for future deployment in the LTE Plus network.

Three-channel carrier aggregation works by bonding together bands of spectrum to create wider channels and produce more capacity to allow for faster speeds on compatible devices. Basically, it creates a wider lane that enables more traffic to flow through at a higher speed.

Sprint is testing its three-channel carrier aggregation technology at its lab in Reston, Virginia to evaluate the overall performance, reliability and speed by running the tests on the Galaxy S7. It’s going to test new compatible devices as they become available to lay the groundwork for deployment of three-channel aggregation in its LTE Plus network. Sprint hasn’t said as yet how long it would take for this to happen.
