Given that bicycles are generally pretty light, it’s a lot easier to make off with a bike rather than a car or a motorbike. Sometimes what thieves do is that they even still the wheels off a bike, which is rather annoying but unfortunate. However the good news is that there is a new invention on Kickstarter that will help address that.

Dubbed the Hexlox, this is basically a tiny magnet that is placed and locked over the hex bolt of your bike’s parts. According to its creators, “The Hexlox locks into the bolt with a magnet. But you can’t use a magnet to get it out since its magnetically shielded. We’ve also tested it to withstand: tweezers, lock picking tools, needle nose pliers, gator/vise grip, hammer, liquid ice, hacksaw, screw drivers and numerous other things.”

Now if you’re worried about compatibility, you can rest assured that the Hexlox will work with any standard hex bolt, so regardless of your bike’s design, the Hexlox should play nicely with it all the same. Now this isn’t to say that your bike is 100% unstealable, but the idea is that with Hexlox, it will make it harder for thieves to steal your bike, which in turn might encourage them to stop bothering and move on.

Of course if the thief is particularly determined then we suppose there’s really nothing that can be done, but for the most part it should discourage thieves. If you think that the Hexlox is a great idea, then you should head on over to its Kickstarter page and help fund it to make it a reality.
