uber-logoIt takes plenty of thinking out of the box in order to come up with some pretty cool solutions, and ridesharing company Uber knows this, which is why it has devised a rather ingenious method of recruiting tech talent by offering Uber passengers the chance to crack a set of in-app challenges in an effort known as “Code on the Road.”

How does it work? Basically, passengers located in select cities will be offered the chance to embark upon a trio of coding challenges, where each one of them will come with a one-minute time limit. Should said passenger pick up a pretty decent score, then they can hook up with Uber recruiters through the app, before being sent a job application link via email.

So far, this particular game has been seen in Austin, Boston, Denver and Portland, Oregon. An Uber representative did share, “We are always looking for new ways to reach potential candidates that want to join our team and help us solve interesting problems. If you’re in a place where a lot of people work in tech, you may see our ‘Code on the Road’ challenge within the rider app. The option to play gives interested riders the opportunity to show us their skills in a fun and different way — whether they code on the side or are pursuing a career as a developer.”
