If you’re taking a ride alone then you obviously have to pay for that Uber all by yourself, however, the ride-hailing service does allow riders to split the fare with their friends. Now it’s launching a new feature called “Family Profiles” that will enable one person to pay for up to 10 riders. They don’t necessarily have to be family so a boss can pay for his employees or a parent for their children.

Uber has announced today that it’s currently testing the Family Profiles payment system in Dallas, Atlanta and Phoenix. It says that this idea came from riders who wanted a way to consolidate all payments for trip under a single account.

The way this works is that the person who’ll be paying for everybody first sends invites to the people he or she wants to add to their plan. Once the invitation has been accepted, all future rides from the people on the plan will be billed directly to the organizer and they’ll get a receipt for every ride.

This system will prove to be ideal for parents who can easily pay for their kids’ rides or adults who just want to make things easier for their elderly parents. There’s no compulsion of having just your family members on your plan so you can add friends or even employees if you’re feeling extra generous.

Uber will look at the response this feature gets in test markets before it decides to roll it out across all cities in the United States. No word as yet if it’s going to take this feature overseas.
