kindle oasisAccording to an announcement by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, he confirmed that later this week we can expect the company to unveil a new high-end Kindle device. The official announcement has yet to be made, but it seems that thanks to a listing spotted in China, the device has since been revealed.

The new Kindle appears to be called the Kindle Oasis and it sports a slightly different design from what we’ve come to expect from Amazon’s Kindles. The device is not flat, as you can see in the photo above. At its thinnest it is said to measure 3.4mm, and 8.5mm at its thickest. It is also said to weigh 131g making it about 20% lighter than its predecessors.

Now you might be wondering what’s up with somewhat odd design. It turns out that Amazon has thought about its users and if you’re left-handed, you can flip the device to the otherwise and the thicker portion will let you grip it easier, along with its page-turning buttons. This is also true for right-handers.

The Kindle Oasis is also said to be shipping with a leather battery case that will give the device a reported standby time of 20 months. No word on how much the new Kindle will cost, but we expect we will find out later this week, so check back with us in the coming days for more updates.
