AT&T has just released a new software update on its network for the Galaxy S7 Edge. Since the handset comes with Marshmallow straight out of the box users don’t have much to get excited about, particularly when the next major Android release hasn’t even been formally announced. This is just an incremental update that brings a couple of tweaks to Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone.
The official changelog for this update mentions that it improves home and volume keys responsiveness on the Galaxy S7 edge and that it also improves Wi-Fi performance when using BTLE, aside from bringing other performance and security enhancements.
It wouldn’t be a carrier software update if it didn’t come with any bloatware and AT&T hasn’t forgotten about pushing in bloatware that many of you are not likely to use. Today’s update adds a new DirecTV widget to the home screen of the device. Doesn’t make much sense to have that widget but since AT&T owns DirecTV now users will just have to live with it.
The most important thing that this update brings is the latest security patch from Samsung. The software version G935AUCU2APD1 for Galaxy S7 Edge on AT&T is rolling out over-the-air now and will go live for all AT&T users very shortly, they will all get update notifications on their handsets.
