doom betaLast week the folks at Bethesda and id Software announced that the DOOM open beta would be kicking off on the 15th of April and would run over the weekend, basically from the 15th of April until the 17th of April, which is Sunday. Now if you were busy or if you are hearing about this for the first time, you’re pretty much almost out of time.

Or maybe not. According to a recent tweet by the official DOOM Twitter account, it seems that the developers behind the game have announced that they will be extending the open beta by an extra day. This means that if you missed the original window of opportunity, fret not because you’ve now got an extra day to enjoy the game.

According to the tweet, it seems like this decision to extend the beta came about by fan request. “You asked for it! We’re extending #DOOM Open Beta for an extra day. #FightLikeHell until April 18, 11:59pm ET.” The game itself will be released on the 13th of May, but the beta is open so you won’t need to have purchased a copy just to take part in it.

If anything this sounds like a good opportunity for gamers who want take the game for a test run to see if they like the new DOOM before dropping money to purchase the game.
