Update: It seems that this is but a hoax, according to SkyVideo. I’ll admit, it was a pretty good prank!

I suppose there is a very good reason as to why the FAA are pretty adamant on regulations when it comes to drones (never mind that they have just approved of 5G autonomous drones to get around up and about), especially when you have a case like this happen – where a drone actually made its way past a 5th floor office window and ended up crashing into a man’s head, now how about that for truth being stranger than fiction?

This particular drone that went rogue certainly made itself a prima donna, having smashed its way through the window of an office that was located on the fifth floor of a Cape Town building. According to entrepreneur and racing driver David Perel, the crash was somewhat like an explosion, and one does wonder just how close it is in real life to the kind of explosions we are treated to in cinemas.

Perel wrote, “While sitting at my desk I heard what sounded like a missile followed by a huge bang and glass all over me. Turns out someone lost control of their DJI drone. Lucky to be uninjured!” The drone had a GoPro attached to it, and Perel removed the SD card in order to upload the sensational clip to YouTube. He has since returned the drone to the owner, nursing a headache from the accident.
