Having a tattoo can be deemed to be an irreversible decision, and for some of us, we would prefer to tread on the safe side of things, and use an app to preview just how a tattoo would look like on our skins. Well, here is something that is different – and electronic tattoo that is capable of making use of your skin as a screen, now how about that for coolness?
These flashing digits that you see above on your right happen to be a proof of concept for a new electronic skin. Theoretically speaking, these “e-skins” could eventually see action in a wide range of things, including monitoring vital signs as well as making wearable electronics to be a whole lot more viable than what they are at this point in time.
With smart skins covering a wide ground from planes to humans, the whole point of this particular effort is to compress electronic sensors into an extremely super-thin and yet very flexible material, in a way where it is so thin as well as flexible, the user will be able to have it on their skins in the same manner as that of a temporary tattoo. It would be interesting to see how much farther they can stretch (no pun intended) the functionality of such electronic tattoos.
