cochin-airport-solarEtsy is a name that we’re sure of you guys are familiar with. For those who aren’t, Etsy is essentially an online marketplace where people can shop for handcrafted items like leather goods, paintings, jewellry, and so on. That being said, it seems like the company is also interested in doing their part for the Earth.

In a recent announcement, Etsy has revealed that they will be partnering up with Geostellar where they will help Etsy’s customers install solar panels for their homes, and the best part is that they will also be helping their customers get discounts on their solar panel installations in a bid to help make it more affordable and appealing.

According to the press release, this is how it will work: “When a new participant applies for the Etsy Solar pilot program, Geostellar will instantly and interactively tailor a solar energy installation and financing plan to meet the unique needs of each individual household. Geostellar will then provide a discount based on the potential contribution of the clean solar energy generation toward the comprehensive emissions reduction goals of the Etsy community.”

That being said, this program is only available to residents in four states – Florida, New York, West Virginia, and Utah – for now, but Etsy does have plans to expand in the future. Given the push we’re starting to see in solar panel installations, we guess this doesn’t really come as a surprise.
