google-tv-listings-search-results

We always turn to Google whenever we want to find out stuff, be it reviews of a movie we’re interested in seeing or a TV show that we want to catch up on, aside from the countless other things we regularly search for on Google. The online search giant is aware of this and now it’s looking to build the future of TV by harnessing its search capabilities. Google will soon start displaying live TV show listings in search results soon.

“What we’re seeing is that more and more, viewers are turning to their phones to find out what to watch, where to watch it and when it’s available,” said Daniel Alegre, Google’s president of global partnerships, adding that searches for TV shows and films on mobile have surged by more than 55 percent in the last year alone.

Google launched video actions in search last year to enable viewers to find direct options to view shows they are looking for on distributors and programmer mobile apps as well as sites and stores like Google Play.

When this feature goes live on Google, searching for a TV show on Google is not only going to bring up apps and sites where the latest episode can be found but the results are also going to contain information about the channel that we can tune into later in the evening or the week to catch the latest episode.
