huawei p9 leicaAbout a week ago several photos leaked of the upcoming Huawei P9. Now thanks to a new photo uploaded by Evan Blass, it looks like Huawei and Leica’s partnership will debut pretty early. As you can see in the photo to your right, it looks like the upcoming Huawei P9 will have Leica’s branding emblazoned on the back where the camera is.

Note that this branding was not shown in the earlier leak, so we have to wonder if maybe the earlier leak was a model meant for testing purposes, and that the final version will indeed sport the branding, but either way with Leica’s reputation as a camera maker, we have to admit that we are pretty excited to see what will be the result of this partnership.

Huawei and Leica actually announced their partnership back in February in which Leica will be aiding the smartphone maker with their cameras. This isn’t the first time that we have seen Leica partner up with other companies. Previously Leica and Panasonic also had a partnership in which Leica’s branding could be found on certain Panasonic cameras.

This would also not be the first time we see smartphone makers team up with high-end electronic companies. Just a couple of months ago in February, LG and Bang & Olufsen teamed up to create a DAC module for the LG G5. In any case the Huawei P9 is expected to be announced this coming Wednesday, so check back with us then for the details.
