For fans of arcade-style fighting games, there are many to choose from, but for those who grew up old school, you might remember classics such as SNK Playmore’s King of Fighters franchise. The latest installment of the game was announced a while back and at the time of announcement, it seemed that it was only going to be available in Japan.

The good news is that a more recent announcement has revealed that SNK Playmore will be bringing the game to the Americas region (which for those unfamiliar consists of North and South America). However it seems that the game will be making its way onto the PlayStation 4, so if you were hoping to play it in the arcade you might be out of luck.

King of Fighters 14 is a pretty big sequel in the sense that unlike previous King of Fighters titles, the latest title in the franchise will use 3D graphics, making it the first time it has ever done so. It looks like an interesting take on the game although admittedly we do miss the nostalgic feel that the previous-gen graphics managed to give off.

Unfortunately while the game has been pegged for a release on the PS4, SNK has yet to provide a more specific release date for the title, so until then we guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
