zeldaLast year The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U had its release date set as “TBD” which was admittedly worrying. However Nintendo then reassured gamers that the game would still be arriving on the Wii U, and while that might be true, it looks like gamers will still have a bit of waiting to do.

Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda for the Wii U has been delayed and will now be released in 2017, but the upside is that just like the rumors, the game will also be playable on the NX. Given that Nintendo confirmed that their NX console will only be seeing a release in 2017, we guess the delay of the Zelda title isn’t that surprising.

For all we know, Nintendo might be planning to make the game one of the console’s launch titles. According to Nintendo, “The latest instalment in this classic series is scheduled to launch simultaneously for both Wii U and NX, and both versions of the game have been in development in tandem. Because developers need more time to polish the game, it will launch in 2017, but it will be the focus of Nintendo’s presence at E3.”

All is not lost because if you are planning on attending E3 2016 in the middle of the year, Nintendo has confirmed that there will be a playable demo of the game. In fact it will be the only playable game that Nintendo will be presenting this year, so here’s your chance to go check it out.
