pokemonOver the years, there have been many Pokemon films that were made and released. However all of them are animated movies, which we guess makes sense given that it is based around a video game and also because there are anime episodes that are also based around the franchise. However a new rumor has suggested that things could change.

According to the latest rumors, word on the street is that the Pokemon Company and Legendary are said to be considering creating a live-action Pokemon movie. This report comes from The Hollywood Reporter who suggests that this is still in its very early stages as Legendary has yet to acquire the rights to the film.

However assuming that this movie does come to fruition, it has been indicated that there will be no expense spared as it is said that this will be a movie with a huge budget attached to it. That being said, we’re not sure how all the characters from Pokemon will translate into a live-action movie, but presumably there will be generous use of CG.

In the past we have seen anime that have been turned into live-action movies, such as Samurai X and Attack on Titan, just to name a few, so there is some precedent for it. Interestingly enough according to the leaked Sony emails from last year, it indicated that Sony was the one in talks to make a Pokemon-related film, but we’re not sure if that was in reference to an animated film or the rumored live-action one. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but how does the idea of a live-action Pokemon movie sound to you?
