There were no cellphones back when I was growing up so constantly being glued to a phone was never a reason for getting scolded by parents, but it’s a different world now, kids these days love their smartphones and can’t imagine life without them. Parents who grew up in much simpler times might not see these devices the same way, and if they get fed up of their kids’ excessive use, some of them tend to take drastic measures like this Southern mother who shot up her kids’ iPhone because they were too hooked on social media.
A video has been doing the rounds on YouTube showing a mother taking strict and some might say unnecessary action against her kids’ excessive use of social media. She places the iPhone on a tree stump and shoots it with a shotgun.
It doesn’t end there, she puts it back on the tree stump and shoots it for the second time, before collecting what’s left of the iPhone and taking a sledgehammer to it.
“My children’s lives are more important to me than any electronic on this earth,” the mother proclaims as her children stand by and hopelessly watch as the iPhone gets shot up and hammered to a pulp.
Can this make her children give up social media completely? Probably not, you can’t expect that from kids these days, but perhaps they will exercise moderation in front of her from now on.
