oneplus-01According to a report from last year, OnePlus had initially promised that they would roll out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the OnePlus One in the first quarter of 2016. Unfortunately we are currently in April meaning that OnePlus has missed the first quarter promise, however the good news is that we might not have to wait much longer.

The company has been testing its Marshmallow update and according to a recent tweet by Carl Pei, it seems that the testing for the Marshmallow update for the OnePlus One is currently in the final stages, meaning that it is possible that it could be pushed out soon, but unfortunately no specific dates have been mentioned.

According to Pei, “Marshmallow for the One is in the final testing stage. Can’t give ETA as it depends on other parties, but should be very soon.” Like we said, given that it’s April the promise for a first quarter release has passed, but then again we suppose better late than never. Not to mention we’d rather OnePlus take their time with the update to ensure it works properly, as opposed to releasing an update quickly that might be full of bugs.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for its release so OnePlus One users do check back with us in the coming weeks for more updates. In the meantime OnePlus 2 owners have gotten the latest Marshmallow beta.
