The Rock Band franchise of video games are usually marketed as multiplayer type of games. Sure, you could always play alone, but obviously it would be more fun if you could gather enough friends to fill every role on the band. That being said if you find it hard to gather many friends together, you might be interested to learn that Rock Band 4 will be getting online multiplayer.

This was announced on the official PlayStation blog where it was revealed that online multiplayer will be making its way onto the game later this year. The announcement reads, “We’re dedicated to bringing players only the best in music rhythm gaming, and having the ability to play with your friends anytime, anywhere is just another step in this process. We’ve heard our community loud and clear — as one of our most commonly requested features, it’s time to bring online multiplayer to Rock Band 4.”

It also sounds like the feature will be part of the upcoming expansion pack that has been scheduled for the fall, so we guess we’ll just have to wait until then for its release, although there are no specific dates mentioned just yet. However Harmonix is expected to share additional details about the upcoming expansion and its multiplayer feature at E3 2016 which will be taking place mid-year, so do check back with us then for the updates.
