When it comes to inflight entertainment, many airline companies have upgraded their systems to include newer systems, although for the most part many of them are still quite small and not exactly fun to watch movies on, that is unless you’re willing to spring for tickets in business or even first class, but with those prices you might as well buy yourself a new tablet anyway.

However according to a report from the folks at The Points Guy, it seems that French company Thales is exploring the idea of creating a new form of inflight entertainment, as you can see in the photo above. The end result is a seat with a portrait-oriented display that pretty much takes up a huge chunk of the back of the seat in front of you.

Dubbed Digital Sky, this should result in a more pleasant experience, although given its portrait orientation we think there could be a lot of wasted space when it comes to videos, but if you’re looking to browse digital magazines or play games or just check out information about the place you’re about to visit.

The best part is that the displays appear to be relatively thin meaning that they won’t eat up too much space which is usually a premium when flying economy. Unfortunately there is no word on which airline company will be taking Thales up on their Digital Sky concept, but the company has provided many entertainment systems to various airline companies, so perhaps in the future this is something we can look forward to.
