iphone_se_touch_idIsn’t it interesting that, if you happen to be a White House aide, you are now able to make use of an iPhone as your mobile communications device, but the President is still prevented from doing so? Yup, this is because the non-use of iPhones by the President boils down to security reasons. This has left plenty of government officials rocking to BlackBerrys, although upgrades are in the pipeline.

It is said that President Obama is using his full range of executive powers to upgrade technology all through the different levels of the U.S. government, but it seems that where the White House is concerned, this is one challenging task. Anita Decker Breckenridge, the deputy chief of staff for operations at the White House, has done her fair bit of championing more modern technology, such as upgrading the broadband connection on Air Force One, not to mention opening up the door for White House aides to tote new iPhones.

As for President Obama himself, he is still stuck with a “specially modified, highly secure BlackBerry,” and it does not look as though this is not going to change in the near future. What, can this BlackBerry transform to a mini security guard robot when no one is looking?
