battlefield_1_02These days publishers and developers tend to offer up digital copies of their games as an alternative to boxed/physical copies. This is because with a digital copy, you can always redownload it in the event you format your computer, and it is also more convenient than having to go out and buy the game and come home to install it.

However we know that there are collectors out there who love collecting boxed copies but unfortunately for you, it looks like EA’s recently announced Battlefield 1 will be digital-only for the PC. We should note that according to the wording used by an EA rep, it sounds like this might only be limited to North America.

According to the rep, “Here in North America, there will be a PC box version that you can buy in stores that will have a code in the box and no disc. If you buy that same PC box version Internationally, some countries will offer a disc inside.” Now you can still purchase copies of the game at retailers, but all you’ll find is a download code.

As for the $220 Collector’s Edition, it seems that it is only for Xbox One and PS4 gamers so as far as PC collectors are concerned, you’re flat out of luck and you’ll have to turn to international copies of the game if you actually want a physical disc.
