bethesda_launcherBack in the day, launching games would be about clicking its icon on your desktop, but that has changed. While that might be true for some games, many developers and publishers have since turned to creating launchers in which games can be launched from. The point is that it helps consolidate games, and in some cases it lets publishers and developers share news and information about upcoming titles, and even lets them chat with friends.

That being said it looks like Bethesda has plans to create their own launcher, thanks to a screenshot posted on the NeoGAF forum. Apparently the launcher is still in its alpha stage meaning that you won’t be seeing it anytime soon, at least not before it becomes an open beta where the public will be able to take it for a spin.

From what we can tell from the launcher, gamers will be able to launch Bethesda games linked to their account, and will also be able to access Mods and Support, as well as redeem any codes that they might have. While it does not appear that there is a Friends list of sorts, we wouldn’t be surprised if that was a feature Bethesda could eventually introduce.

No word on when the company plans on releasing their launcher, but like we said, Bethesda would not be the first and they would be following in the footsteps of Valve, EA, Ubisoft, and Blizzard, all of whom have created launchers dedicated to their catalogue of games.
