Robots have no doubt come a long way from what they were back in the day, and while some might be lauding the progress we’ve made, we’re sure there are some who are equally worried that a Skynet-like future isn’t too far behind, and if you’re in the latter camp, the latest development might get you worrying a little.

Developed by RE2 Robotics, they have created a robot called the “Highly Dexterous Manipulation System” which is essentially a bomb defusing robot with two arms that also has the capability and agility of being able to open a pill bottle with a safety cap on it, although we suppose that in settings that it was built for, it will be able to better manipulate explosives and other more complex tasks that its one-armed siblings might not be so suited for.

According to Jorgen Pedersen, president and CEO of RE2, “The direct benefit of the HDMS technology to Army personnel is significantly increased performance and capability over currently fielded manipulators for both tele-operated and semi-autonomous use on mobile robot platforms. These manipulation improvements directly correlate to a reduction in time-on-target and overall mission time, resulting in increased safety for all mission personnel.”

Now if you’d like to see the robot in action, check out the video above for the details.
