droid turbo 2Last October, Verizon launched two Motorola-branded handsets in the form of the Droid Turbo 2 and the Droid Maxx 2. We’re not sure how successful both devices were, but it seems that Verizon and Motorola think that their successors should be made, at least according to a recent tweet by Evan Blass.

According to Blass, “So now I’m hearing that there are going to be both a Maxx 3 as well as a Turbo 3. #dejavu” Too bad for us all Blass managed to provide was the names for the handsets, and given that they are of the Droid variety, chances are that they will be exclusive to Verizon once again.

Right now it is really anyone’s guess as to what kind of specs they will be packing under the hood, but one of the key features of the Droid Turbo 2 is its ShatterShield display, a display that is supposedly very hard to crack. Presumably Motorola will be retaining that feature, and also given that the Turbo 2 came with high-end specs like a QHD display and a Snapdragon 810 chipset, we can only assume that this year’s model will pack a Snapdragon 820 and a similar QHD display.

As for the Maxx 3, its predecessor was a mid-range device with a Full HD display and a Snapdragon 615 chipset, so chances are we will probably be looking at another mid-ranger with a newer processor this year, but until we hear otherwise, take it with a grain of salt for now.
