65 billion apps google play

You can share many content services with your family members, some have even launched plans for precisely this purpose, but what about apps? We all have them on our phones and wouldn’t it be nice if families could also share paid apps? That’s what Google is going to make possible with the launch of Family Library, a new feature that’s going to allow Android users to share purchased apps with as many as six users.

Google has started sending letters to developers today informing them that the Family Library is going to arrive soon. The feature will be released on July 2nd and it will allow up to six Android users to share apps across their devices with no additional charge.

The company is merely catching up to Apple which introduced a similar Family Sharing feature for iOS devices back in 2014. Nevertheless, it’s good that Google has decided to offer this feature.

Google has asked developers to retroactively enable this feature for past purchases so users can even share apps they’ve purchased before July 2nd, that’s when this feature will be automatically turned on by default for all purchases. The company does point out that once a developer decides to enable Family Library for past purchases the decision can’t be taken back.

It’s not exactly clear as yet how Google is going to verify family members on each account and it hasn’t detailed the procedure as yet. Since the launch is in July we’re definitely going to hear more about this next month.
