We’re sure you guys have seen videos of people throwing boomerangs that have ability to return to the person who threw it. This is largely thanks to the way that the boomerang has been designed, which means that technically Captain America’s shield shouldn’t have the same returning properties, but then again these are comics/movies so we guess anything’s possible.

That being said, YouTuber Hacksmith has managed to put together a little getup that we’re sure that dedicated cosplayers might be interested in checking out, and that is a wrist attachment that is outfitted with electromagnets, which in turn will allow the wearer to “catch” Captain America’s shield, just like how the superhero himself does it in the comics, video games, and movies.

The shield itself was made by the folks at MachinaProps and from what we can see, they have done a very nice job of putting it together. As for the electromagnets, at 12V they are able to pick up objects up to 260 pounds, but crank it up to 72 volts and it can apparently lift as heavy as 1,600 pounds!

The bracer also required a fair amount of padding to ensure that the 30 pound shield when “returned” will not shatter Hacksmith’s arm in the process. So far the video shows how the bracer was made along with some snippets of the shield being tossed around and captured, but Hacksmith states that the next video will show off more of the shield in action.
