ps4We have been hearing rumors that Sony could be working on an upgraded version of the PS4. Given that it won’t be a drastic overhaul, the device has been given the nickname “PS4.5”, and there are also rumors that it will be called “Neo”. While that’s well and good, the question is when will the console be released?

According to French video game distributor Innelec Multimedia, it seems that they think that the PS4 “Neo” will be released this year in October. This was apparently revealed in the company’s financial results spotted by French website Otaxou, in which Innelec was working under the belief that the console would be released later this year.

The paragraph spotted by Otaxou reads, “The fiscal forecast for 2016/2017 should be pushed by the videogame industry, during the first semester, with the arrival of the PS4 Neo 4K, an evolution of Sony’s PS4 console with new features and the release in October 2016 of the virtual reality handset the Sony VR.”

Given that the company deals with video game distribution, we imagine that if and when the PS4 Neo is released, they will also be distributing games based around that as well. Plus given that they are in the industry, there is a chance that they might know something we don’t. Alternatively they could simply be speculating regarding its release as companies are wont to do.

However Innelec isn’t alone in their predictions. Last month GameStop’s COO also indicated that new console launches are “imminent”, although when exactly this will take place is anyone’s guess. All we know is that the Nintendo NX will see a March 2017 release. In any case E3 is taking place next month so maybe additional details will be revealed then.
