gopro hero plusGoPro’s cameras have long been used by drone enthusiasts, namely due to the fact that GoPro’s cameras are small and lightweight, meaning that attaching them to drones isn’t that difficult. However as you might have heard, GoPro has decided if their cameras are going to be used as drone accessories, why not make the drones themselves?

Last year the company teased their upcoming “Karma” drone which was expected to be launched in the first half of 2016. Unfortunately it appears that will no longer be happening because according to GoPro, they have announced that the drone’s release will be delayed and will be pushed to winter, the holiday shopping season in the US.

This was confirmed by GoPro’s CEO Nicholas Woodman who unfortunately did not explain why the drone had been delayed, except to say that by launching it in the holiday season, it should be able to benefit from that particular period. This move actually surprised some analysts who believed that the drone would have helped turn the company’s fortunes around, but we guess we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.

So basically if you wanted to get your hands on the GoPro Karma, you’re going to have to wait until the end of the year to get it. In the meantime there are plenty of alternatives out there if you absolutely need to get a drone right now.
