jawbone-up-new-featuresIn the early days of fitness-related wearables, both Jawbone and Fitbit were competing head-to-head, but over time Fitbit pulled ahead leaving Jawbone behind. There have been reports that Jawbone isn’t doing so well, which is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that they might have decided to stop production of their UP trackers.

This is according to a report from Tech Insider who received the information from one of their sources. Apparently not only has Jawbone stopped the production of their wearables, but they have also reportedly sold off their remaining inventory at a discount to a third-party in order to generate enough revenue to keep its business operations going.

Note that this does not mean that Jawbone is out of the game or that they are shutting down, but rather it seems that they have decided to take a breather, presumably to come up with a new strategy for moving forward. The company’s wearables are still being sold, it’s just that any remaining inventory has been sold to a third-party. Jawbone has not commented on the report yet.

In addition, it also seems like Jawbone might be planning on exiting the speaker business as well. This is according to a report from Fortune. There are also reports that Jawbone has already discontinued their Bluetooth speaker business and is also trying to offload their remaining inventory.
