windows-10-mobileWhen Microsoft launched Windows Phone, they introduced a feature called WiFi Sense. For those unfamiliar, WiFi Sense basically connects users automatically to WiFi networks based on crowdsourced information, as well as being able to connect to WiFi networks of your friends and family when you’re at their place without them having to give you their password.

The feature was then brought over onto Windows 10 and while it does sound like it is a handy feature, it seems that Microsoft will be getting rid of it in a future Windows 10 build. This is according to a recent blog post by Microsoft’s Gabe Aul in which he claims that the lack of interest/demand in the feature has led them to decide to remove it.

According to Aul, “We have removed the Wi-Fi Sense feature that allows you to share Wi-Fi networks with your contacts and to be automatically connected to networks shared by your contacts. The cost of updating the code to keep this feature working combined with low usage and low demand made this not worth further investment.”

Security experts had previously expressed their concern over the feature, which we guess makes sense since automatically connecting to an unknown WiFi hotspot could spell trouble, but either way we guess in the future Windows 10 users won’t have to worry about it anymore.
