Samsung-Gear-VR-07
It has been close to half a year that the Samsung Gear VR, which happens to be powered by Oculus, was introduced to the masses across the world. Having said that, the rate of adoption for such a niche market has been pretty impressive, with the number of people who made use of Gear VR having passed the magical one million mark last month, as they enjoyed a range of immersive games, videos, and experiences available on the Oculus platform.

Apart from that, we also know that developers have come up with over 250 apps for Gear VR, with this ranging from hot titles such as Minecraft to the action shooter End Space, not to mention the unique fishing game Bait!. VR video also played a role in the Gear VR’s popularity, as 70% of the most used apps happen to be videos, with close to 8 out of 10 people who use Gear VR consuming video content.

In the weeks and months to come, Gear VR adoption should increase all the more, especially when you have Facebook 360 Photos set to arrive to the News Feed. In other words, one will be able to snap a panoramic photo from one’s handset or use a 360 camera, upload it to Facebook, and then pan around by tilting your phone or dragging the image. The possibilities do seem to be opening up, so would you like to be part of the next million? [Press Release]
