china-flagIf you thought that Google’s ability to predict your searches using its AI was creepy, over in China it looks like we could soon be taking one more step closer to making Terminator’s Skynet a reality. It seems that to put their artificial intelligence to the test, a tech company in China will be having one of their robots sit for China’s National College entrance exam.

The robot will be given the same limitations that regular students have, which is a set time to finish the exam, and that it will not be given access to the internet. Instead the robot will have the exam questions programmed into it before the exam begins, and will also be linked to a printer in which its answers will be printed out.

The robot will also be tested on a variety of subjects which includes liberal arts, history, politics, and geography. As you might have noticed, maths is not one of the subjects the robot will be tested upon. This is because topics like math are objective with specific answers, while liberal arts topics are subjective and will require more “thinking” on the robot’s part.

That being said, this isn’t the first robot to take a test. It seems that over in Japan, a similar robot is being prepped in hopes of taking Tokyo University’s entrance exam come 2020.
