samsung-smart-fridgeFridges come in all shapes and sizes. They can be tall, short, mini, have one door, have two doors, have three doors, a variety of compartments, a freezer layout on the top or a layout on the bottom, and etc. However earlier this year, Samsung unveiled the Family Hub fridge which comes with a massive 21.5-inch touchscreen display on one of its doors.

Now we’re not sure why you would need such a huge display for a fridge, especially considering that your laptop’s screen is probably much smaller, but if you were enamored by its massive screen and design, you will be pleased to learn that Samsung has announced that the fridge will now be available for purchase in the US.

Of course it will not come cheap as it will set you back a whopping $5,600, or $6,000 if you opt for the black stainless steel model with a counter depth. This is many times more than a standard fridge, but we guess that’s the price you’ve got to pay for convenience. Just in case you missed out on the earlier announcement at CES this year, the display on the fridge can be used for all sorts of things.

For example it can give users weather forecasts, a smart calendar, a menu planner, and there are also cameras that can snap photos of the contents of the fridge to let you know if you are running low on a food item. You can even buy your groceries from, the touchscreen thanks to MasterCard’s new Groceries app. For more details, hit up Samsung’s website.
