Galaxy S7 owners on Sprint will soon notice that an update notification has popped up on their device, that’s because Sprint is currently rolling out a new software update for this handset. Since the Galaxy S7 already comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow installed straight out of the box it’s not a major update which brings the latest and greatest version of Android, but it does bring some crucial security fixes and important tweaks for the Samsung flagship.

Software version G930PVPU2APD3 is now being rolled out by Sprint for the Galaxy S7 on its network. The update comes in at around 142MB and does feature the April security patch for this device.

The changelog mentions that this update improves the performance of Voice over Wi-Fi and it also optimizes the battery life. Given that the latest Android security patch is included it improves the security of the device as well. Additional device stability improvements, bug fixes and more are almost always included in such updates.

Galaxy S7 owners on Sprint who have not yet received the update notification need not worry, these updates are released in phases so they don’t go live for everybody at once, a little patience on your part is all that’s required here.
