Suzuki-SwiftWe’re not sure if this is starting to become a disturbing trend, but with Volkswagen’s admission that they cheated on their diesel emissions tests, and with Mitsubishi admitting the same later, it now looks like we can add Suzuki to the list of carmakers who might have a spotty test record when it comes to their fuel economy.

The company has recently come forward and admitted that they had used an improper method when it came to testing the fuel efficiency of their vehicles. According to Suzuki, they made it abundantly clear that they did not cheat as there was no outright manipulation of the data, and that the difference in results was still within an acceptable range.

This came about after the Japanese government had asked all the country’s carmakers to re-examine their vehicles following Mitsubishi’s admission last month, and it seems that during this testing that Suzuki discovered said discrepancies. The good news is that vehicles sold under the Suzuki banner outside of Japan are not affected, so if you do own a Suzuki vehicle, you don’t have to worry about it.

As a result of their admission of the mistake, it saw the company’s shares plunge by a whopping 15%, which is single biggest drop for the company’s share prices in 7 years, but ultimately it managed to recover by 6%.
