whatsapp_mac_pcWhatsApp used to be an app that was exclusively available on mobile devices, but last year the company launched a web version of its messenger service that basically allowed WhatsApp users to chat with their friends and family via their desktop through a web app. Now web apps sometimes aren’t always ideal and if you would prefer a desktop app, your wish could come true.

According to recent screenshots tweeted by WABetaInfo, it seems that there are hints to suggest that WhatsApp could be building a desktop app. The screenshots show upcoming WhatsApp builds and releases, and they showed downloaded buttons that have been speculated to link to desktop apps for both Windows and Mac.

Unfortunately there’s no way of confirming whether or not these screenshots are the real deal, but then again given that WhatsApp already has a web client, we suppose creating a desktop client does not seem like that much of a stretch. It is also possible that maybe WhatsApp is just toying around with the idea and it might not necessarily make the final cut.

In any case we are on board with the idea of a desktop app, but what about you guys? Would a dedicated app for Windows and Mac be something you might be interested in, or is using WhatsApp on the web or via your mobile device good enough?
