world of warcraft legionIn MMORPGs, you have the choice of either playing against the game in terms of instances, raids, encounters, and so on (known as PvE), or playing against other players (also known as PvP). Some people find PvP more satisfying and competitive, and if you are one of those players, you might be interested to learn that in Legion, Blizzard has announced some changes they plan to make.

Legion, for those unfamiliar, is the next expansion for Blizzard’s World of Warcraft. According to a recent post by Blizzard, they announced that they plan on making the PvP aspect of the game more accessible, balanced, and rewarding for gamers who take part in it, and this is expected to be accomplished by the PvP gear they will be introducing to the game.

According to Blizzard, “We’ve traditionally had different goals for PvP and PvE gear, and how much power it gives you relative to your enemies. For example, in PvE content, it feels good to gain gear and eventually overpower a once-dangerous monster.” They add, “So, our challenge has been to find a way to allow your character to become stronger through PvP without making your opponents feel like they can’t compete.”

How will they accomplish this? “Currently, we’ve tuned the system such that for every point above item level 800, your stats are increased by 0.1%. This means that someone with item level 900 gear is only 10% stronger than someone with item level 800 gear.“ As Blizzard points out, they have tried all sorts of ways to balance out PvP in every expansion, but whether or not this latest attempt will work remains to be seen, but for PvP-ers out there, it could be worth looking forward to.
