altos adventure zenFor those of you who play endless runner games on your phone, you know that for the most part, endless runners tend to be fast and frantic, with the goal being to collect as many coin/points as you can before you stumble and fall. Alto’s Adventure is a completely different beast in the sense that it isn’t the fast-paced adventure you might expect.

Instead it is a calm and relaxing game with soothing music and beautiful visuals. However it seems that its creators at Snowman have decided that it could be even more relaxing. This is why they released an update to the game that introduces a new “Zen Mode”. This is basically the same game, except there will be no coins, no powerups, and no scoring. Basically it will end up being an endless ski adventure.

According to Snowman, “Zen Mode is a new way to experience the game. We’ve stripped away many things from hillside; no scores, no coins, no powerups, and distilled the game down to its purest elements. There’s no on-screen UI competing for your attention – it’s just you and the endless mountain. This means all the pleasure of play, with no consequences. If you crash, you can pick yourself up and continue down the slopes.”

It seems that Snowman have been receiving emails about how relaxing the game is, which got them thinking that they could do more. They even commissioned an entirely new soundtrack and introduced Photo Mode. The update is now live but for now it is only available for iOS, but we expect the Android version should be coming soon.
