As expected, the United Kingdom is the first international destination for Amazon’s grocery delivery service. The company has announced today that Amazon Fresh has now gone live in the United Kingdom. Starting today, the grocery delivery service will be available to Amazon Prime subscribers in north and east London. People who sign up to use Fresh for the first time will get a 30 day free trial.

At launch, Amazon Fresh is available in 60 London postcodes. users can select one-hour timeframes so that they can make sure that they’re home to collect the groceries when the truck rolls around. Customers also have the option to go for same-day delivery provided that the order is placed before 1 PM.

Amazon Fresh offers a wide variety of items, including but not limited to 130,000 bakery, dairy, and other fresh produce items. Products from nearly 50 local specialist stores will also be sold through the service, this includes local fishmongers, stalls at the Borough market, and premium chocolatiers.

It remains to be seen how long Amazon takes to roll out the service across all of London, and when it’s going to expand Amazon Fresh to other cities in the country. Amazon hasn’t said which countries it’s looking at next to expand the service in, it’s likely to take its time given that even at home in the United States, Amazon Fresh has had a rather slow roll out.
