etc-fo-deluxepipboybluetooth-inuseLast year when Bethesda announced Fallout 4, they also announced a Pip-Boy Edition copy of the game, which is a limited edition release of the game that came with a real-life Pip-Boy, which in reality is a glorified smartphone holder with an accompanying app, but it was still cool enough to fetch $1,000 on eBay.

In response, some fans turned to creating their own Pip-Boys which were admittedly a lot more hi-tech than what Bethesda had put out, but it looks like at E3, the company has finally unveiled the Pip-Boy that all Fallout fans truly deserve. This is no longer a smartphone holder but an actual device that comes with its own screen and runs on its own hardware.

According to Bethesda’s description, “A faithful reproduction of the in-game item, this Pip-Boy: Deluxe Bluetooth Edition is not a phone case for your arm. It’s even better. With an integrated screen and its own on-board software and hardware, this Pip-Boy pairs up with your Bluetooth phone or tablet to give you access to your phone’s ability to take and place calls, as well as its contacts, SMS messages, and audio files.”

However if you don’t want to use it as a secondary phone, Bethesda lists other possible uses. “Even when not paired, the Pip-Boy: Deluxe Bluetooth Edition can still be used as an alarm clock or a cosplay prop, displaying the Status, Special, and Perks screens from the game.” Unfortunately the Pip-Boy: Deluxe Bluetooth Edition will not come cheap as it is priced at $350. It is also limited to 5,000 units around the world, and will also be limited to 2 per customer. It is pegged for a release on the 11th of November but gamers can pre-order it via Bethesda’s website.
