BlackBerry Priv owners on T-Mobile have something to look forward to today. Magenta has started rolling out the Marshmallow update for this handset. This update has been available for the unlocked version of this smartphone for quite some time now but carriers always tend to hold them up a bit, nevertheless, Priv owners on T-Mobile will be glad to find out that the carrier is finally sending out the Marshmallow update for them.

The Priv is BlackBerry’s first Android-powered handset. Never before has the company released a smartphone that didn’t run on its own operating system, BlackBerry switched gears with the Priv but it didn’t do quite as well as it might have hoped.

Recent reports suggest that AT&T is seeing customers regularly return their Priv handsets, revealing that the device isn’t performing well. Another indication of its sluggish performance was when about a week ago T-Mobile said that it has suspended online sales of the Priv.

This latest update bumps up the T-Mobile BlackBerry Priv to Android version 6.0.1/build AAE153. It brings everything that’s a part of Marshmallow, including better app permissions, Doze mode, adaptable storage, user interface tweaks, and more. Also included with the update are performance and stability enhancements.

T-Mobile is rolling out the update over-the-air and it should go live for all users soon.
