The Tesla Model S is capable of doing many things. It’s capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in around 3 seconds and it’s also capable of driving itself, pulling into and out of parking spots, and much more. It runs out the car can do something entirely different as well. Elon Musk has pointed out that the Model S “floats well enough to turn into a boat.”

Musk shared a video on Twitter shows a Model S effectively swimming through a flooded tunnel in Kazakhstan. While it’s not immediately clear in the video if the car is actually floating like Musk says it is, we can easily see that the Model S fares much better in the flooded tunnel when compared to the other cars that were stuck.

Apparently wheel rotation is enough to provide thrust to this $100,000 boat and we can see in the video that it easy pushes through the water and makes its way out of the tunnel.

Many of you would be concerned about sitting in an all-electric vehicle with big batteries in a flooded tunnel, but Musk pointed out that the drive unit and battery are both sealed from the environment so there’s nothing to worry about.

Nevertheless, it would be best to avoid large bodies of water in a very expensive car, but should the need arise you can rest assured your Model S can float like a boat.
