You might think that a fan-made remake of Star Wars Battlefront 3 might find it hard to get listed on Steam, on the contrary, this has actually happened. Frontwire Studios is working on one such remake titled Galaxy in Turmoil, and it has confirmed that Valve has agreed to host the game on Steam. The developer isn’t too concerned about Disney sending a cease and desist order to shut things down. Star Wars is Disney property after all.

Frontwire president Tony Fergie Romanelli confirmed in a statement that the studio has officially signed a distribution deal with Valve/Steam for the game Galaxy in Turmoil. It has been decided to ship Galaxy in Turmoil to millions of Steam users for free.

Galaxy in Turmoil does not hide the fact that it uses Star Wars IP and Disney has every right to come down hard on Frontwire Studios, even though the studio isn’t making money off of it.

Romanelli says that he has been concerned about this from time to time, but mentions that “Valve clearly lacks that same concern,” and that by publishing Galaxy in Turmoil the company is assisting Frontwire in growing and ensuring the longevity of its Battlefront 3 remake project.

If you’re interested in playing this game, look for Galaxy in Turmoil on Steam soon. It runs on Unreal Engine 4 so it might end up pleasantly surprising you.

As far as the Battlefront 3 proper is concerned, who knows when it’s going to be out, nevermind the fact that LucasArt never said if it was in the pipeline.
