ios game centerSeveral years ago, Apple introduced Game Center which was designed to be a hub for iOS gamers. Users could add friends to their list, check up on what kind of games they are playing, their achievements, their high scores, and in some cases, even challenge them. While it was no doubt well-intentioned, let’s face it, how many of us actually bothers with the app?

There have been rumors in the past that Apple could be getting rid of the app, and it looks like in iOS 10, Apple has finally done that. In the first beta of iOS 10, it has been noted that Game Center is no longer part of the stock apps that are bundled onto iOS devices. It also looks like it is not downloadable unlike deleted stock apps, meaning that Apple is serious about losing the platform once and for all.

According to the release notes for iOS 10 beta 1, Apple informs developers that if they still want to implement certain features from Game Center, they will have to do it themselves. “The Game Center app has been removed. If your game implements GameKit features, it must also implement the interface behavior necessary for the user to see these features.”

That being said, will any of our readers actually miss having access to Game Center?
