instagram extensionOne of the features of iOS which is also available on other smartphone platforms, is the ability to share what you’re viewing directly with other apps. For example you could share a link in Safari via Messages, or you could email a photo directly while browsing through your Photos app, and now it looks like the Photos app has gained a new extension.

According to a report from 9to5Mac, it seems that Instagram has been updated and in the latest update, it now supports extensions for the Photos app. What this means is that when you’re browsing your photos, you have the option of sharing photo directly to Instagram instead of having to launch the app separately.

Users will be able to caption their photo and add hashtags, but unfortunately that’s pretty much where the line is drawn. If you want make further edits to the photo like add filters or crop it or adjust its brightness, you will have to do so via the Instagram app itself, or whatever image editing app that you normally use.

However if you’re not fussed about that, then we reckon this is a pretty convenient feature that frequent Instagram users might be able to appreciate. The update should already be live so hit up the iT unes App Store to get your hands on it.
